How to choose the best color for a TV?
The color scheme in your room can be a bit accidental, but it has a great effect on how you feel in your home. The two things to consider when it comes to colors is balance and associations. Balance simply means that the colors in one's space should ideally be coordinated, so that it looks like a unit instead of a random collection of elements. Usual techniques to achieve this are considering a color wheel, and selecting colors that are either quite close to each other (as colors that are only different in intensity of lightness do go together, but slight variations in tone or hue can also work), or relatively far, like on opposite sides of the wheel (complementary colors like blue and yellow) or on different thirds (for example, red-green-blue). Associations with and emotions connected to colors are also important. In all likelihood these associations are cultural and learnt, which means that they can be quite different in different cultures or just for different individuals. The associations are even often contradictory, making it even more difficult to use them as a guide. Blue is often connected to productivity, but also calmness, stability and even sadness. Green is undoubtedly the color of nature, and is said to be connected to safety, luck and envy (though in other cultures this latter is yellow instead). Pink is thought to evoke kindness, nurturing, romance and calmness, while it was the choice for boys' and men's clothes over many decades. Red is considered to be the color of friendship, willpower, leadership, desire and revenge - a very wide range of emotions. But it is clear that in nature, it means danger and importance, so it should be put next to a neutral color to allow the eye to rest. These emotions point in so many directions that these guides seem to boil down to just one piece of advice: pause and consider what the color means for you.
What is the best height and viewing distance for a TV?
There are many different pieces of advice floating around about the optimal placement of a television, and much comes down to the layout of your room and personal perference. However, it is usually said that the best vertical position of a TV is eye level, which means that the middle of the TV should align with the eyes. This avoids hurting our necks when watching. The optimal distance to the viewer is about 3 times the height of the TV - instead of the neck, this benefits our eyes as it avoids eye strain. For example, for a 190 cm wide set, which corresponds to a 84" screen size, the optimal distance to the couch is 321 cm. In general, higher resolution (e.g. 4K) TVs can be placed closer.

Questions and answers

Is it possible to search for TVs using their width, height and length?

Finding TVs in search engines on the web by size is not straightforward as search engines are best at finding text only. Also, when searching for TVs to fit a given space, slightly narrower pieces would also fit. Even if some shops allow searching for TVs by measurements, checking many outlets at the same time needs a different solution. This is where Furniture Ferret comes to the rescue. We scour many outlets and index thousands of items to let you get the one that fits perfectly.

How can I use the search on Furniture Ferret?

Searching on Furniture Ferret is simple. Click on the search button in the header in the top right corner, then adjust the keywords you are searching for, for example, "table", "TV stand" or "yellow sofa". Drag the two handles on the sliders to enter the minimum and maximum values for the width, height and depth (length) and the price you are interested in. Press "Go!" to update the results. That's all!

Our philosophy

We want every one of us to live comfortably even if they only have a small space they call home. We scour the Internet to search among thousands of desks, cabinets, shelves, storage units, beds, tables, sofas and more by size, to find just the right piece to go in that unused corner and turn it into some closet space, or to find that extra long bed that is still narrow enough to squeeze through the door. From the kitchen to the bedroom, don't live around furniture - choose furniture that lives with you.

Did you know? We also help customers in many other regions. You can look for 75 inch wide TVs in Canada or 75 inch wide TVs in the US.
