What is the best color for a TV?
The color scheme in your home can be a result of necessity, but it has considerable effect on how you feel in your home. The two main things to consider when it comes to colors is balance and associations. Balance means that the colors should ideally be coordinated in some way, so that it looks like a unit, and not just a random collection of elements. This can be achieved by using a color wheel, and selecting colors that are either quite close to each other (as colors that are only different in intensity of lightness do go together, but small variations in the actual hue can also work), or quite far, for example on opposite sides of the wheel (giving you complementary colors like blue and yellow). Other color combinations are likely be somewhat jarring just based on how our eyes and brains understand color. Associations with and emotions connected to colors are also important, and there are many lists for these from those by 19th-century Impressionist painters to modern interior design guides. In all likelihood these associations are cultural and learnt, which means that they can be quite different in different cultures or just for different individuals. The associations can even be contradictory, making it even more difficult to use them as a guide. Blue is often connected to productivity, but also calmness, stability and even sadness. Green is clearly the color of nature, and is considered to be associated with safety, luck and envy (though in other cultures this latter is yellow). White can be connected to peacefulness, cleanliness, innocence and emptiness, and, for example, mourning in India. Red is thought of as the color of friendship, energy, leadership, desire and anger - a very wide range of emotions. But it is clear that in nature, it means danger or importance, so you probably need to put it next to a neutral color to allow the brain to rest. These emotions are so different that these guidelines seem to boil down to just one piece of advice: pause and see what the color means for you.
How do I measure the space to fit a TV in?
Measure both the width and the depth of the area where you'd like to put a TV. The easiest way is to use a measuring tape. Hold the start of the tape down at the edge of the area, and let it run to the opposite edge. If the distance is larger than what you can stretch to with your arms, ask a friend to assist, or divide what you need to measure up into multiple parts. This can be done by either holding the tape down halfway and continuing running it while letting the first end go, or by marking how far you have measured on the floor or wall, and start a new measurement. If you want to avoid drawing on your floor, try putting down a pointy object like a pen there instead. Don't forget to avoid dead places where the piece of furniture won't go like electric sockets. Also it may be necessary to take the height of the space and the item into account wherever the ceiling is uneven like spaces under the stairs.

What is the optimal height and viewing distance for a TV?

There are multiple different opinions floating around regarding the ideal placement of your television, and much comes down to the available space and personal perference. However, it is usually said that the ideal height of a TV is at eye level, which means that the middle of the TV should align with your eyes when seated. This avoids hurting our necks when watching. The ideal viewing distance is about 3 times the height of the TV - instead of the neck, this benefits the eyes as it helps to prevent eye strain. For example, for a 100 cm high television, which corresponds to a 79" screen size, the optimal distance to the couch is 300 cm. In general, higher resolution (e.g. 4K) televisions can be placed closer.

We strive to allow every one of us to live comfortably even if they only have a small area they call home. We scour the Internet for thousands of desks, cabinets, bookcases, storage units, beds, tables, sofas and more by size, to find just the right one for you to go in that unused corner and turn it into a practical office, or to find that extra long bed that is still narrow enough to squeeze through the bedroom door.
