The two things to consider for everything colour is balance and associations. Balance simply means that the colours should ideally be coordinated, so that it looks like a unit. This can be achieved by using a colour wheel, and choosing colours that are either quite close to each other (as colours that are only different in lightness or intensity do go together, but small variations in hue can also be fine), or relatively far, like on different halves of the wheel (giving you complementary colours like red and green). Other colour combinations are likely be somewhat jarring because of how our eyes and brains process colour. Associations with and emotions connected to colours are also important to keep in mind. It is quite probable that these associations are cultural and learnt, which means that they can be very different in different cultures or for different individuals. The associations can even be contradictory, making it even more difficult to use them as a guide. Blue is often associated with productivity, but also calmness, stability and even sadness. Green is clearly the colour of nature, and is considered to be associated with safety, luck and envy (though in other cultures envy is yellow instead). Pink is considered to evoke kindness, romance, nurturing and calmness, while it was the choice for masculine clothing over many decades. Red is considered to be the colour of friendship, willpower, leadership, desire and anger - a very wide range of feelings. But it is clear that in nature, it means danger or importance, so you probably need to put it next to a calm colour to allow the brain to rest. These emotions point in so many directions that these guides seem to boil down to just this: pause and see what the colour means for you.
We want every one of us to live comfortably even if they only own a small space they call home. We scan multiple webshops for thousands of desks, cabinets, shelves, shoe cabinets, beds, sofas and more by size and colour, to find just the right one to go under the stairs to finally get some closet space, or to find that extra long sofa that is still narrow enough to squeeze through the door. From the kitchen to the bedroom, don't just live next to furniture - have furniture that lives with you.
