What is the best colour for a fridge?

Furniture Ferret: The colour scheme in your room can be a bit accidental, but it has considerable effect on how you feel in your room. The two main things to consider when it comes to colours is balance and associations. Balance means that the colours in one's home should ideally be coordinated in some way, so that the space looks like a unit. This can be achieved by using a colour wheel, and going for colours that are either quite close to each other (colours that are only different in lightness or intensity always go together, but small differences in tone can also be fine), or quite far. Other colour combinations are likely be somewhat jarring because of how our eyes and brains process colour. Associations with and emotions connected to colours are equally important, and there is no shortage of lists for these from those by 19th-century Impressionist painters to modern interior design guides. It is quite probable that these emotions are cultural and learnt, which means that they can be quite different for different people. The associations can even be contradictory, making it even more difficult to use them as a guide. Blue is often connected to productivity, but also stability, calmness and even sadness. Green is clearly the colour of nature, and is said to evoke safety, luck and envy (though in other cultures envy is yellow instead). Yellow is always a shouty colour and can mean warmth, brightness, energy and attention (likely because of the sun), except when it is dark and becomes brown, when it is said to be relaxing and comfortable. Red is thought of as the colour of friendship, willpower, leadership, desire and anger - a very wide range of feelings. But it is clear that in nature, it means danger and importance, so it should be put next to a calm colour to allow the brain to rest. These emotions point in so many different directions that these guidelines seem to boil down to just this: pause and think what the colour means for you.

Questions and answers

How much free room do you need around a fridge?

First of all, ensure that when positioning a fridge you observe all the safety regulations and instructions that come with the fridge, including leaving venting areas and safety clearances. There must also be enough room left, usually behind the machine, for plugs, cables and pipes. But from strictly a usability perspective, you will need sufficient space in front of a fridge to be able to open its door fully and use it. The minimum clearance for this is likely to be 80 cm, so a 50 cm deep fridge will require 90 cm in total. Also don't forget that often you will need to open the door completely, to the side of the machine, so placing a fridge next to a wall may not work.

How to measure the space to fit a fridge in?

Measure both the width and the depth of the floor space where you'd like to place a fridge. The most accurate way is to use a measuring tape. Hold the beginning of the tape down at the edge of the area, and let it run to the other edge. Make sure the tape is parallel to the side of the area, or else you would overestimate the available space. If the distance is larger than what you can stretch to with your arms, ask a friend to assist, or divide the distance into multiple parts. This can be done by either holding the tape down halfway and continuing running it while letting the first end go, or by marking how far you measured on the floor or wall, and reposition the tape to complete the measurement. If you want to avoid drawing on your floor, try putting down a pointy object like a pair of scissors there instead. Make sure to avoid dead places where the piece of furniture won't go like pipes. Also don't forget to measure how high the space is wherever the ceiling is uneven like in loft rooms.

What is a reasonable price for a fridge?

173.99 British pounds is the average price of fridges in this category. Most of the fridges here cost from 148.99 British pounds to 209 British pounds. This means that 9/10 of the products are between the two figures. You can check what the expected price of a product in this category is by looking at the median value. For the fridges here the median is £169.99, that is, 50% of them is priced above this, and 50% below.

Our philosophy

We want everyone to live comfortably even if they only have a small area they call home. We scan multiple webshops for thousands of desks, cabinets, bookshelves, shoe cabinets, beds, sofas and so on by size and colour, to find just the right piece to go next to the window and turn the room into some closet space, or to find that extra long sofa that is still narrow enough to squeeze through the door. From the hall to the living room, don't live next to furniture - have furniture that lives with you.

We are also present in many other regions. You can visit 20 inch deep fridges in the US.
