Questions and answers

Is it possible to search for ovens and cookers using their size?

Finding ovens and cookers in search engines on the Internet by size is not easy as search engines are best at finding words only. Also, when searching for ovens and cookers to fit a given space, slightly shallower items would also be suitable. Even if some shops allow searching for ovens and cookers by size, searching many websites at the same time needs a different solution. Our systems scour many shops on the web and list thousands of items to allow you to find the one that is just perfect.

Can I order the 110cm wide ovens and cookers by price?

On the search pages one can choose to order the results by price (ascending or descending), or relevance. Tap on the drop-down button just above the first oven or cooker, after "Order by", to change the ordering. Sorting by relevance will show the oven or cooker at the top that contains most of the search terms, while sorting by price will show the cheapest or most expensive oven or cooker first. Set the ordering to "Price: low to high" to see the cheapest 110cm wide ovens and cookers available on Furniture Ferret.

How to use colour psychology when choosing an oven or cooker?

The two things to consider for everything colour is balance and associations. Balance means that the colours in one's room should be coordinated in some way, so that it looks like a unit, and not just a random collection of elements. Usual techniques to achieve this are considering a colour wheel, and going for colours that are either quite close to each other (as colours that are only different in intensity of lightness always go together, but small differences in tone can also work), or relatively far, like on opposite sides of the wheel (giving you complementary colours like blue and yellow) or on different thirds (for example, red-green-blue). Associations with and emotions connected to colours are equally important, and there is no shortage of lists for these from those by 19th-century Impressionist painters to modern interior design guides. It is quite probable that these associations are cultural and learnt, which means that they can be very different in different cultures or for different people. Blue is often associated with productivity, but also stability, calmness and even sadness. Green is clearly the colour of nature, and is said to be connected to safety, luck and envy (though in other cultures this latter is yellow instead). White can be associated with peacefulness, cleanliness, innocence and emptiness, and, for example, mourning in India. Red is thought of as the colour of friendship, willpower, leadership, desire and revenge, which is a very wide range of feelings. But it is clear that in nature, it signals danger or importance, so it should be put next to a calm colour to allow the brain to rest. These associations point in so many directions that these guidelines seem to boil down to just this: pause and think what the colour means for you.

Our philosophy

We aim to allow everyone to live comfortably even if they only own a small area they call home. We scour the Internet to search among thousands of desks, cabinets, bookshelves, storage units, beds, armchairs and more by size, to find just the right piece to go next to the window and turn the room into a dressing corner, or to find that extra long sofa that is still narrow enough to squeeze through the bedroom door. From the hall to the living room, don't live next to furniture - get furniture that lives with you.
