What is the best way to measure the space to fit a bedside table in?

Measure both the width and the depth of the floor area where you'd like to put a bedside table. The easiest way is to use a measuring tape. Hold the beginning of the tape down at the edge of the area, and let it run to the opposite edge. Make sure the tape is parallel to the side of the area, as otherwise you get a value larger than the reality.
