How much free space should you leave around a fridge?
First of all, ensure that when placing a fridge you follow all the regulations and instructions that come with the fridge, including allowing for venting areas and safety clearances. There should also be enough room left, usually behind the machine, for cables and pipes. But from strictly a usability perspective, you will need enough space in front of a fridge to be able to open its door completely and use it.
